2010 Goals

1.  Enhance quality of international student experience by providing high-quality immigration advising and preventing all but willful status violations

2.  Strengthen cross-cultural training for the campus and community

3.  Increase the matriculation and retention of international students

4.  Increase the resource base that supports the mission and goals of the Office of International Students and Scholars


Goals 2007-2008

1a  Add a full time foreign student advisor.

1b  Deploy batch transmission capability with the SEVIS immigration database.

1c.  Implement a robust means of gathering data from ISIS to monitor student events.

2a.  Solidify cross-cultura training programs through Human Resources, Career Development, Pre-College Programs, Friendship Family  program.

2b.  Provide intensive training to ICT members through a retreat format.

2c.  Increase participation of new ICT attendees who attend training sessions.

2d. Maintain audience evaluation levels at 4.0 or higher from Human Resource Diversity Certificate sessions.

3a.  Develop a system of early contact through electronic means (E-mail, chat).

3b.  Engage students in active learning during orientation.

3c.  Provide comprehensive training of Cross-cultural mentors to include Professional Development Institute and understanding of ISS goals.

3d.  Assess the needs of spouses and families of students.

4a.  Increase the total number of international students enrolled at th Unersity of Arkansas by 6.5 percent.

4b.  Increase the number of grant proposal submitted by the Office of International Students and Scholars to 3.
