Intake Schedule

By attending the International Orientation, students will:

  • Be familiar with the role, mission, and services of the ISS Office.
  • Understand their responsibilities with regard to maintaining valid non-immigrant status as defined by the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
  • Identify themselves as part of the University of Arkansas.
  • Be aware of the dynamics of cultural adjustment and its effect on academic expectations, professor/student relationships, social contexts, and other areas of their university experience.
  • Be aware of resources both on and off campus available to serve their variety of needs.
  • Be aware of opportunities for involvement in the campus and larger community, and know how to become engaged in such areas of interest.
  • Be aware of academic advisement and registration procedures.
  • Know how to contact their Cross-Cultural Mentors or the ISS staff if they need assistance or referrals of any kind.
